Величава будівля Львівського державного академічного театру опери та балету ім.І.Франка по праву належить до числа найкрасивіших театральних споруд України. Цю розкішну споруду, вирішену в стилі так званого "віденського псевдоренесансу", у якому використані деталі різних архітектурних стилів, зводив відомий віденський архітектор Зігмунд Горголевський - автор багатьох відомих у Європі монументальних споруд. Силует головного фасаду театру визнано своєрідною емблемою міста, він втілений також на українських грошових знаках, купюрі вартістю 20 гривень.

У 1999 році театр став важливим об’єктом шостої зустрічі президентів країн Центральної Європи у Львові. Ця історична зустріч президентів сприяла другому оновленню театру (перша реставрація відбулася у 70-х роках. Тоді було зміцнено фундаменти, переплановано підвальні приміщення, здійснено реконструкцію сценічних механізмів. Оновлений театр відкрився у 1984 році). У 1999 році до саміту президентів Центральної Європи будівля театру (інтер’єр і екстер’єр) одержали єврооновлення.
The monumental building of the Lviv State Theater of Opera and Ballet named after I.Franko by right belongs to the most beautiful theatrical buildings of Ukraine. This luxurious building built in the so-called "Viennese pseudo-renaissance" which unites the details of different architectural styles was compiled by the famous Viennese architect Zigmund Gorgolevsky - the author of many famous European monumental constructions. The silhouette of the major theater's front is recognized as an original city emblem, it is also embodied on Ukrainian cash, 20 Hr note.


In 1999 the theater became an inportant object of the sixth meeting of the Central Europe countries' Presidents in Lviv. This historical meeting of the Presidents favoured the second renovation of the theater (the first renovation was held in the 70-ies. At that time, the foundations were strengthened, the basement premises were replaned, the stage mechanisms were reconstructed. The renovated theater was opened in 1984). In 1999 for the summit of the Presidents of the Central Europe countries the building of the theater (interior and exterior) got euro-renovations.
