Lviv - During the week of June 13th, 2000, Yaakov D. Bleich, Chief Rabbi of Kyiv and Ukraine, met with Tadey Eder, Director of the Lviv Opera Theater . Their discussions focussed upon the production of the new opera called "Moses." Rabbi Bleich expressed his wholehearted support for the opera which is scheduled to premiere in Lviv this coming November. The Rabbi’s endorsement lends a multi-denominational quality to the growing list of non-secular advocates for this production. Other eminent religious leaders including Pope John Paul II, Bishop Losten of the Ukrainian Catholic Diocese of Stamford, the Armenian Archbishop of Lviv, as well as the Ukrainian Orthodox Churches Patriarchs have also enthusiastically and generously embraced this project. With such a distinguished group of supporters in the wings, the debut of the opera portents to be a truly historic event in Ukraine’s cultural evolution. You are invited to visit the Lviv Opera website (http://www.lvivopera.org/) for the latest news and information about the Theater and more about the new opera "Moses." We ask for and welcome your support and contributions to help defray the costs of production.
