Lviv opera and ballet theater named after Solomia Krushelnitska prepares
the staging of the opera "Moses" consecrated to the arrival
of the pontificate.
Myroslav Skoryk himself considers its realization to be one of the most
important points in his creative work. Especially the repertoires of the
leading theatres are worth noticing of. It's pleasing that the potential
of groups (including our opera group) gives an opportunity to perform
the mightiest works of the world classics.
There is a problem of another origin though. The staging by modern composer
is a very troublesome process. Particularly if it concerns the comprehension
and interpretation of the classical material. Therefore the matter applies
to asceticism not of those courageous who hide their scores into the cases
(till better times), but of those who try to implement their plans today.
To this category of people also belongs our famous compatriot - composer
Myroslav Skoryk. His "Moses" is his original comprehension.
Rehearsals have reached their highest peak. Therefore I won't dare to
assure that everything will be just as the composer has planned.
I'll just permit myself some rehearsal observations. We have met exactly
during the consultations of Mr. Skoryk with the producer-choreographer
Sergey Naenko. Fingers started quickly running and the piano keys sang.
The Maestro closed his eyes for a moment, a pause followed: "Here
to the 21st figure to add ten bars…"
Sergey nodded : "I see, very easily…"
-Oh, like a woman steps. After the clarinet, I think, there has to be
man's part…
I'm listening to. After the woodens comes the tuba. And then the trumpet
on the theme. Accompaniment - background - percussions. Increasingly…Pause.
Easily. And again more expressively.
Ragged tempo. Almost ragtime.
The passage into a smooth duet. The trumpet brings the tune to the culmination.
And again smoothly. And again till the ascent at the end - common orgy-agony…
And the duet of "Golden Bull Calf" and "Astarta" produces
an effect of a flowing leitmotif. This is a plan of the authors.
- Is it possible to conduct the theme of the pantheon of Eastern gods?
- These are already the thoughts of Naenko about andante…
- Arms of the Maestro are accurately tucked in pockets. The melody is
still in the air. He is already concentrated for the future June. The
first night is scheduled for the middle of the warmest month.
- Will it be ready in time?
- I think, yes, - Skoryk is categorical. In a moment he is lost in thoughts.
-There are a lot of problems though. Sergey hinted that someone of the
ballet group won't perform because alluring foreign propositions were
received.
- You know, this is our misfortune. It appears that the most perspective
job for young performers is singing at the streets of European cities…
I'm pleased that at least recognized performers stay on their places.
- Who do you count on among them?
- Now "the chief Moses" is Alexander Gromish. As I consider
the opera to be an important act, I count on the main persons: Stepan
Stepan, Ihor Kushiler, Vladimir Ihnatenko…
It seems to me that right now the work over the "Moses" is in
that phase when after the powerful prelude (Skoryk carried out the idea
of practical realization for two years) comes the easy tempo. Rehearsal.
Then according to the law of the same ragtime there comes intensification.
Let's wait for June!
Halina Hanuschak.
